Pedra Branca
It is called Pedra Branca (White Rock) due to a submerged rock, of a lighter shade than the rest, located in the area where the waves form. It is a very fast left hander with a rocky seabed that receives waves from the SO quadrant up to the W/NO quadrant. Due to the flat shelf of the reef that is exposed during low tide, it is normally surfed during the rising mid-tide until high tide. Consistent and dangerous, this wave is characterised by rapid starts, followed by tubes to the inside.
